MOMS Club History

The MOMS Club of Medway/Bellingham, MA is just one of many chapters in the International MOMS Club. The MOMS Club, standing for MOMS Offering Moms Support, is a support group for at-home mothers around the world. The International MOMS Club was originally founded in 1983 by Mary B. James in Simi Valley, California. Mary wanted to meet other at-home mothers and wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with. She soon realized that there were no local organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her children. She decided to start her own organization and the MOMS Club was born.

This first chapter was so successful, that Mary James and other volunteers helped many mothers start MOMS Clubs in their own cities and towns. The club became a national organization in 1985 and now there are over 2,000 chapters across the country, several international chapters, with a total membership that exceeds 100,000 with new members joining and new chapters forming every day.
